8.23.11 ... maurice sendak recycled chicken soup

my sendak pierre series buttons and magnets were a big hit so i was thrilled when i spied a discarded chicken soup with rice at fred on sunday. today i got through step one - choosing and cutting the circles. i know i will enjoy step two and i'll be back with photos when i complete the pins and magnets.

i always have a hard time deciding if i should make buttons or magnets. if any of you have a preference i'd love you to let me know. thank you.

7.7.11 ... sendak buttons - pierre

late last night right before i turned off my phone, i had a sale in joonbeam. it was my pierre set of pinback buttons. after i thanked the buyer she sent a reply asking if i ever made more to let her know. i had only made the one set to try them out but i had a few circles cut so i made two more sets. this one you see above with pierre standing on his head a la 'i don't care' and his mother getting ready to leave him there and this one below ...

... with pierre, his mother and father and the lion who ate him! the buyer chose this second set so i will list the other one as soon as i have a few moments. they are made using salvaged vintage book images from a book that is too well loved to remain intact but too well loved to be thrown to the landfill or recycling bin.

6.15.11 ... recycled paper buttons

i don't have any photos from today's work so i am sharing two more from yesterday. i made these to go in with the package i've been working on lately. the one above is my recycle stamp on an envelope flap.

the suns are on receipt backs. mr. lucky is from a celery wrap. i love that the celery is called mr. lucky. it cracks me up. the love our earth is a combination of my printing on an envelope flap glue section collaged on top of a coordinating magazine bit. i hope to send the package out tomorrow. we shall see.
