10.22.11 ... discarded scout spud art upcycled into ...

10

... today i continued my journey back in time. i completed my teaching years sorting and organizing and worked a bit on this project, too. these are pieces of scout art doodles from her early years. we have to let go of some of the massive amounts of art she has produced and it is so hard. i went through these and cut the small images into assorted size papers. they will become address labels, calling cards, bookmarks, note papers and more.

i hope they will brighten up people's day as they have added so much sunshine to ours.

10

trust me, we have boxes full of drawings similar to these and even cuter. the girl produced dozens of drawings a day even as a toddler.

10

looks just like besos, right?

sweet dreams, everyone. thanks for stopping by. until tomorrow. happiness to you. from me. with heart. ox joon

10.17.11 ... an owl takes flight to australia and besos finds a way to keep a close watch on mom

10

today i made this cute corner bookmark for someone who purchased an owl laden vintage item from joonE. it will be on its way to australia tomorrow. i have a project to share with you but i am going to wait until tomorrow night because there would be too many photos for tonight. here is the reverse of the bookmark...

10

this one is made from a discarded vintage children's book. it has seen a lot of love but i can find some life in it here and there. and so it lives on. and travels across the world. one last photo for this evening. here is besos trying to make herself invisible so she can stay right near me as i work. she had jumped up on my table and i scolded her and she smooshed herself into the window casing and made herself very comfortable. she's a tricky old bird.

but so adorable.

sweet dreams, everyone. thanks for stopping by. until tomorrow. happiness to you. from me. with heart. ox joon

4.23.11 ... besos looking adorable and a t shirt restyle

4

besos was overseeing my joonE photo session today. she likes to be close by. since cricket's death both kitties are sticking closer to me all day and night. besos wants me to pick her up and carry her around. she also sleeps right up by my shoulder where cricket slept. ginny cries for me to pet and/or brush her and escort her to her food bowl. and she jumps on my lap every chance she gets. don't you wish you knew what goes on in their minds? what do they comprehend? are they thinking cricket might be coming back or do they know she is gone forever? when we had her home for those few days and were caring for her, besos brought her santa toy and set it nearby cricket. it was so sweet. i do believe they knew she was very ill. but sometimes i feel they are asking me when i'm going to pick her up and bring her back, cured. if only, right? i love having them nearby, looking adorable. and interested. and content.

4

for my creative project i restructured a t shirt neck. here it is completed and the picture below shows it sewn in place, prior to trimming off the original neckline. if you are a new reader you should know i perform this surgery on all of my t shirts because the necklines make me feel strangled. i know i am hyper sensitive but that's just who i am. i console myself by taking action to accommodate my neurosis. it's all good. and besides, i think this is a much groovier look. not to mention, one-of-a-kind. as all things should be.

a blessed easter to all who celebrate. a beautiful spring sunday to everyone. sweet dreams, everyone. thanks for stopping by. until tomorrow. happiness to you. from me. with heart. ox joon

4.17.11 ... kitty love and vintage cookbook cuteness

Img_5595

those of you who follow my blogs know that one week ago today we had to say good bye to our sweet cricket. today i found besos and ginny snuggled up together - with mr. chippy just inches out of this frame. it brings us great joy to see our pets so content and peaceful.

i made some cookbook magnets today and just love them. this fisherman is my favorite.

here's the lumberjack.

the coffee pot and toaster set...

... and here's the main mess of everything and the cookbook from whence i rescued them. today was evan's birthday and we had as nice a day as we could with poor scout feeling like a hell as we say here in the wilkinson household. i made some of my famous lemon chicken soup which she was happy to have for lunch. she's enjoying an orange juice slushie right now and waiting for me to finish this post so we can divert her attention away from her misery with a movie.

ev's at a gig until midnight-ish. a while ago i saw this little critter scurry right against our front screen door and at first i thought it was a rat (horrors) but it was an adorable baby possum. oh. my. gravy. was he the cutest thing ever. we tried to catch a photo but the terrified little guy was hiding behind a pipe. now we spent the evening worrying about his family and if they're nearby for a rescue. well, there's the nature adventure portion of tonight's post.

hope you are all feeling well. i hear things are going around. take care of yourselves.

sweet dreams, everyone. thanks for stopping by. until tomorrow. happiness to you. from me. with heart. ox joon

4.1.11 ... creative picture display and scout's new 'do

4

i was cleaning my room today and that always leads to some rearranging and a decor shift here and there. our room is separated into two with my art room being in the back half. this kitchen rack behind our dresser doubles as a handy storage divider. there's never enough wall space for all of our favorite framed art and photos. i have no idea how this idea came to me this afternoon but it's a hoot.

4

a hoot that works, by golly.

4

and below you can see a closer look at the simple solution to my challenge.

4

isn't that groovy? and yesterday i gave scout a haircut so here's a very quick and spontaneous photo i snapped today of her with her new 'do ...

4

yesterday's unfinished magnets also got pressed this morning. here they are...

and that's all for this beautiful friday evening, my friends.

sweet dreams, everyone. thanks for stopping by. until tomorrow. happiness to you. from me. with heart. ox joon

2.6.11 ... a treasury . a salvaged messenger bag . our sweet besos

here's something i haven't created in a l-o-n-g time.  i curated this treasury for my eco etsy team tuesday treasury entry.  it features members of our eco friendly team.  you can view the actual treasury and access any of these items and more here:  http://www.etsy.com/treasury/4d4ee21ba3728eef0ca0dec6/eco-blue-valentine  ... i had fun with it.  i used to make them often.  i would like to return to creating them regularly.

in other creative news... ev has this old messenger bag he loves but it has a corporate logo he wished was not on the front.  so i covered it with one of his favorite hawaiian fabric pieces.  i wasn't sure my sewing machine could sew through the thick plastic coated fabric but it did fine.  what turned out to be the bigger challenge was maneuvering the unwieldy bag.  it was not fun at all.  but i do love the result.  on the inside i used a double layer of tyvek and yes! paste to attach the patch and cover the logo reverse.

and last, but never least, a look at my side kick, miss besos (kisses in spanish).  she follows me around and is quite insistent that i pay attention to her and not my silly projects, including photo time.  she's 12 and i love the little demanding girl.  isn't she beautiful?

mom, pleeeaaase pick me up.

hmmm....that doesn't seem to be working.  let's see....

thinking...thinking...i know there's got to be a way to get her to drop the camera and pick up the cat.  i just know it.

yes, good old determination ... stamina.  i have all the time in the world.  she'll find me irresistible soon enough.  when you got it, you got it.  and i have it.  yes, i do.
oh sure you know it . she won.  and that's fine by me.

sweet dreams, everyone.  thanks for stopping by.   until tomorrow.  happiness to you. from me. with heart.   ox joon
