3.4.11 ... tuna salads and recycled book cover envelope

today's creations ... a homemade envelope with pizzazz. this book cover is too pretty to discard. the book is also pretty. i've been using the salvaged pieces in many projects but this is the first time i've had just the right type and size package to fashion the cover, which i have saved for an embarrassingly long time now, into an envelope.

listen to this: i had two etsy sales yesterday, which is lovely but unusual. today when i packaged them up i thought i was seeing things. one street address was 2838 and the other was 4828. seriously. how bizarre is this? i can't imagine what the odds are on those numbers turning up in my inbox on the same day.

i love the coated paper. it makes a sturdy envelope. and saves the earth a little. every little bit helps. this envelope can even be reused.

and i hope it will be.

this is my lunch plate. i made tuna salads and ev and scout went kind of crazy over them so i snapped a few photos in case this was all i got around to making today. the envelope came later so i am ok. this creating every day is not as easy as it sounds. and it doesn't sound all that easy either.

it was a delicious lunch i must say. at the moment we just finished watching footloose. i have never seen it. very interesting. seemed interminably long. it was kind of like glee on valium. ev is making some chocolate drop cookies. warm cookies at almost 11 pm. we're living crazy here tonight, folks.

NoVeMBeR NeWS: MoViNG. FLaNNeL DaY ReMiNDeR. ReCYCLeD ART.

How have you all been?

November is almost gone and

I haven't had a chance to blog

as I wished I would.  Sigh.

It's been a bit nutty here.

After a ridiculously extended search

we finally found a new place

to live.  We move on Sunday.

We're looking forward to

the new adventures.

We'll be in another Austin

neighborhood so it

will seem like a bit of 

a new world.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch,

Scout is enjoying dance and

her holiday show rehearsals.

And guess what?

She had her first ever test.

In her life.

In her ASL class.

She earned a 97% and

a certificate.  She will

begin 201 in January.

And she is participating

in NaNoWriMo

{National Novel Writing Month}

and she's on task!  

Yes, ladies and gents,

I am telling you that

Scout has written 

40,000 WORDS.

She's well on her way to 

the monthly goal of 50,000.

Quite an achievement

for a 16 year old.

I need to remind you all

that even though we will

be moving on Sunday,

it is the third annual

FLANNEL DAY!

Be sure to celebrate.

It's a Great Day in Progress

As any of you who have looked at my posts have guessed, we are huge Craig Ferguson fans. I have something to send him, which I will include in my finished post. This is the envelope. Recycled. And from England ~ that tickles my funny bone. And I think it might give Craig a chuckle, too. Since I am re-using the envelope I am decorating it with one of my collages to cover the address. OK, I would do all this anyway, even if it didn't need it. The reverse side ~ the new front ~ also has this building/NYC/America theme, but, as you see, this is still in the working stage and none of this is set in place. So no photo of that side yet. This side will have a few changes and needs a couple of additions, but for the most part I am pretty happy with it. It is so cold, dreary and just plan wintry here today. It's actually snowing here in Austin. I guess that's quite a big deal. We moved here from New England so what do we know? :) Anyway, the weather convinced Scout and me that another batch of pretzels was in order. They came out just as lovely as the first batch. She has a picture of them on her TaD post: HERE along with a link to a little video we made spontaneously yesterday afternoon using my pony (iphone). It's here on my sidebar as well. Presidential Potato Salad

You know the question 'If you could have any three people for dinner...?' Well, Lincoln is one of my choices and I am pretty sure he would love my potato salad. :) We're having BLTs tonight and I got a cabin fever craving for this. I hope you all are warm and dry this evening. Oh ~ adding a few photos from my secret valentine stash from last week. I will post a few along with my current TAD every day. Ciao!

We've always called our two boys and Valerie our Boston Baked Beans. This is the first time I have drawn these beans, though. I recycled a safety envelope bit and a lottery chad {?} I don't know if these things have a name, do you?

I made this reusing their wedding invitation envelope from last winter. :) I just love this blue paper. It's a great day for America, everybody. Yes it is.
